Winter is starting to loosen its grip as we are almost done with January. However, a N'oreaster is on its way to us in 2 days time. It has been colder this last 2 days that at any time this season, making me look for signs of Spring.
Incidentally, having said that, I remember that I have seen robins in flocks this week! Have they been here all winter, or are they super early birds? My main reason for writing today is to share an update about my personal situation. Last April I became mildly ill with COVID_19. A Very mild case. Headache and low-grade fever were the most apparent symptoms. However, even though I only missed 4 days of work, I have not bounced back entirely. I experienced afternoon fatigue, and took naps a couple of times a week upon returning home from work. (I work 24 hours a week.). Then I began noticing dry lips, which no lip balm or salve relieved. Then upon closer examination, I saw the the margins were red, inflamed, and now the skin was peeling daily. This went on, along with digestive upsets, from May until December. Finally, in a an effort to help the digestive issues, I was drinking homemade kombucha, eating dates, and taking HCL tablets for my stomach , believing that the gas and rumblings after eating was from low stomach acid. Then my lips got really bad, painful, stiff from inflammation and dry skin layers. My daughter, who was present when this happened to be at its worst suggested Benadryl cream for my lips. I immediately went to get some, and one application made a difference. So, now I knew there was an allergic reaction going on...but to what? After some research, I learned about histamine intolerance, and the enzyme responsible for its breakdown. This was news to me! Soon I found that it happened to others after having had COVID-19. After about 2 weeks of eating a low-histamine selection of vegetables, grains, fruits with eggs and some grass-fed or organic meats, I am better...so much better! I am currently seeking a knowledgeable practitioner in my area who can help me through the rest of this situation. More on that later....
